6 Benefits To Traveling With Your Children

Benefits to Traveling with Children

The summer is coming… Hooray! We are going on vacation…. Vacations are great, but at the same time, they can be a source of stress to think of vacationing as a family. Before throwing your towel and choosing to not travel at all, consider these benefits:

  1. Create memories together. Vacations are a great way to enrichment the family relationships. You will find yourself talking about a good vacation for years. After all these years, I still remember when my family and I went to Brazil as a small child. Creating memories is a huge part of having a healthy family relationship, as it creates ties and bonds that you don't get through the day to day activities.

  2. Expand the children’s perspective. A child learns that there are other places other than ‘home.’ Believe it or not, children begin to understand that the world is more than their surroundings through traveling. This gives also an opportunity for them to see things that they may have learned at school right in front of them! They will love that.

  3. Learn how to share. If you have more than one child, traveling helps work through sibling rivalry issues, as there will be many instances they will have to share things during the trip, such as space (hotel/car & plane rides), activities, and more.

  4. Improves health. Research shows that there is a correlation with less heart risk with those that vacation, as well as less stress. Breaking away from daily responsibilities helps clear the mind and catch up on missed rest.

  5. Increase productivity when you come back. The daily routine can be demotivating and tiring. When we vacation, our brain is stimulated with new information, and this results in a ‘re-booting’ effect that when engaging back with the same routine, we feel more energized to get things done.

  6. It increases creativity. The same stimulus mentioned in the prior tip, not only helps increase productivity when we come back from vacation but it also results in increased creativity.
