Are you feeling overwhelmed trying to solve your own problems, or a family member’s struggles, and seeing no improvement? Are you feeling like all of your efforts have been exhausted and nothing has changed? Do you feel like you are trying to control everything around you, but nothing is working?
ARE YOU READY TO FIND SOLUTIONS?
As individuals, we naturally want our world to constantly be at peace and exude stability, but let’s be real! Life throws challenges at us and sometimes we do not have the tools to help us manage our struggles. Whether you are the parent of a child who is having issues at home or school, an individual looking to improve your mental health, or needing guidance and support to cope with a life transition, I am here for you. As Maya Angelou once said, “We may encounter many defeats, but we must not be defeated.” Walk into a safe space and begin to reimagine a life meant for you.
My goal as your therapist is to treat you with dignity and respect. I strive to constantly be aware of and support your personal perspectives, values, beliefs, and desires. During our sessions, I will actively listen and work in partnership with you to design the best treatment plan that fits your needs. Along with this approach, I strongly believe in implementing research-based approaches, which most often include the following approaches:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – A model that focuses on changing unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors in order to enact change. Its goal is to change patterns of thinking or behavior that are behind people's difficulties, and so change the way they feel.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy: SFBT is a goal-directed, collaborative approach that focuses on the client’s present and future. It works well with children and adolescents because it doesn’t dwell on a “root cause” or the past, but is more interested in solutions to the problem. SFBT pinpoints the client’s strengths and resources they already possess in a way that assists in finding possible solutions.
Play Therapy Techniques: Method of counseling that utilizes play as a means of communication with children that attempts to resolve psychological challenges. By using these techniques, I work with children to help manage emotions, improve behavior, and incorporate play therapy techniques to normalize and process life experiences and transitions.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) – A method of engaging with an individual in order to strengthen internal motivation for changing behaviors.
