"Sometimes we need to go a little deeper to know what we need. That's where testing comes handy"

Children and youth face problems from time to time related to learning, attention, interpersonal skills, behavior, or emotions. Many times,

parents or teachers feel that a child is having difficulty at various points of development and learning and want to identify what the problem

is. When is a psychoeducational evaluation needed?

Concerns in the following areas may indicate the need for an evaluation:

  • reading, writing, and/or math

  • paying attention

  • overactivity, impulsivity, restlessness

  • getting along with peers/adults

  • disruptive/noncompliant behaviors

  • managing emotions

With proper testing, I can help you uncover your strengths and carve together a path of success!

As a licensed school psychologist, I can help you understand your child’s strengths and weaknesses. Psychoeducational evaluations provide insight into your child’s functioning in different areas, including intellectual ability, academic achievement, adaptive skills, and social/emotional/behavioral functioning. Evaluations are completed for Learning Problems, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional/Behavioral Concerns, and Gifted. The profile gathered from an evaluation is used to determine your child’s skills and relevant educational implications.

When conducting evaluation, I utilize a systematic approach. The assessment battery is personalized based on the concerns. Input from family, teachers, therapists, and doctors may also be included when warranted. Most children enjoy the assessment process, as it is an opportunity to spend one-on-one time engaged in a variety of tasks, with an adult’s full attention.

After earning my B.A. in Psychology from the University of Miami, I pursued the degrees of Master of Science in Psychology and Specialist in School Psychology at Barry University. I have been working as a school psychologist in Broward County Public Schools since 2000 and have experience evaluating youth ranging in age from 3-22 with a variety of exceptionalities. On a personal note, I enjoy spending time with family, cooking, entertaining, and traveling. I am a native Spanish speaker.

I look forward to supporting the academic, social, behavior, and emotional success of your child.
