Children and youth face problems from time to time related to learning, attention, interpersonal skills, behavior, or emotions. Many times,
parents or teachers feel that a child is having difficulty at various points of development and learning and want to identify what the problem
is. When is a psychoeducational evaluation needed?

THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

As a licensed school psychologist, I can help you understand your child’s strengths and weaknesses. Psychoeducational evaluations provide insight into your child’s functioning in different areas, including intellectual ability, academic achievement, adaptive skills, and social/emotional/behavioral functioning. Evaluations are completed for Learning Problems, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional/Behavioral Concerns, and Gifted. The profile gathered from an evaluation is used to determine your child’s skills and relevant educational implications.
When conducting evaluation, I utilize a systematic approach. The assessment battery is personalized based on the concerns. Input from family, teachers, therapists, and doctors may also be included when warranted. Most children enjoy the assessment process, as it is an opportunity to spend one-on-one time engaged in a variety of tasks, with an adult’s full attention.
